I just played a gig with the Lionel Hampton Big Band and it was just great. I started out on vibes because of Hamp. My parents had the Benny Goodman Carnegie Hall album as their only jazz album, I heard Hamp and that was that. Next thing I know we are looking for a set of vibes in Hamburg. Tonight I had the honor of playing that music with the band of the great man. Speaking of coming full circle.
